Which artworks to put where in the home?
A room by room guide.
Purchasing artwork can be a tricky process as there is a lot to take into consideration... Do I want landscape or portrait? Small or large? A single, a pair or a gallery wall? Hanging on a wall or leaning on a ledge? We’re here to help! In this post we’re going to explain which artworks to put where in your home, so that finding the perfect piece of art for your space becomes that little bit easier for you.
Artwork for Living Rooms
Living areas are typically larger spaces in the home, so we believe that when choosing artwork for your living room - the bigger the better! This is your opportunity to really make a statement, so we recommend going with a large landscape print or a striking gallery wall. Not only will it look stunning, but it will also be a great conversation piece for visiting guests. Explore our landscape oriented pieces here.
Artwork for Hallways
Making the most of your walls is essential when decorating a hallway, as there’s usually not much space for furniture. We love seeing multiple prints in hallways, either in a gallery wall or with complementary pairs and trios hung side by side. This will help to give the illusion of a larger space. If you have a console table or shelf in your hallway, you can also try leaning a selection of portrait pieces against the wall. If you are purchasing multiple prints, our top tip is to select them from the same collection so that the colour schemes coordinate with each other.
Artwork for Bedrooms
Bedrooms are a sacred space for us to retreat to at the end of each day, so it’s really important to select artwork that helps you feel calm and relaxed. For this reason our go to theme for a bedroom is artwork that features nature. Smaller portraits work really well in bedrooms, A4 and A3 sizes look lovely resting on a ledge or side table, while A2 and A1 are a good size for hanging on the wall. You also can't go wrong with a large landscape piece directly above your bedhead. Discover our landscape & nature artworks here.
Artwork for Children’s Rooms
Whether it’s a nursery, kids room or playroom, when it comes to children’s spaces we love artwork that features animals, nature and colour! These types of prints bring a sense of calm into the room and inspire those little imaginations to bloom. Beautiful large statement pieces and pairs are great for breaking up all of the chaos. Artwork for Home Offices
Your home office is a space where you want to feel inspired, motivated and creative, so we love to include colourful and invigorating pieces in these areas. Home offices can often be low on wall space, so we recommend layering a small A4 or A3 print that you can rest on your desk or a shelf alongside books, plants and ornaments that you love to help get your creative juices flowing.
