Take a closer look at my workspace
After three years of looking at a decrepit backyard we have finally completed the build of our garage/studio. Positioned above the garage at the back of our home, my art studio overlooks the backyard. When designing the extension, my priority was to maximise natural light. Despite height and window restrictions on the sides, we aimed to create a bright and open atmosphere. The skylights and large colonial-style windows allow light to pour in, while the pitched roof really opens everything up, making it a truly inspiring place to work. |
Otto, my assistant, is always nearby. |
I wanted the space to feel natural and not at all clinical. I opted for a sage zellige tile splash-back that runs along the kitchenette, bringing an essence of the pool tiles from downstairs up and the timber veneer joinery creating a flowing look from the timber flooring. The checker board tiling downstairs compliments the tone of the timber stair treads and creates a playful vibe. |
