Louise Day’s beautiful cottage styled with Bloom and In the Balmy Jungle collections
Louise and her husband have been busy raising two little ones, Violet and Ivor and a fur baby, whilst slowly renovating and styling their quaint cottage situated on the outskirts of Brisbane’s CBD. |
Timber panelled walls are painted a clean crisp white, whilst hardwood timber flooring brings warmth to the space. The overall palette is light and neutral, helping to create a sense of openness and allowing some of the cottage’s original architectural features such as, high ceilings, stained glass windows and fretwork breezeways above the doors, to shine. To this simplicity Louise has added bold and bright decor and accent styling pieces, such as richly hued bedding, high pile rugs, wall hangings and art to create lively home full of rich colour and texture (and fun). |
In keeping with this styling theme, prints from Australian artist, Karina Jambrak’s latest collection Bloom, slot in easily. The Bloom collection is bold and beautiful. It’s inspired by and depicts symbols of change and growth. It’s about transformation, rebirth, and new beginnings; about finding the strength within, surrendering to the freedom of the unknown, and embodying the grace to accept change so that we can be more fully ourselves. The pieces are richly hued with deep earthy tones and accented with pops of bright colours and pattern. |
Artworks from the Bloom collection were created to be displayed either individually as a feature piece or combined as a set. As seen in Louise’s living room, she has carefully selected a combination of Growth, Joy and Flourish. The artworks working well together as they share a common botanical theme and colour palette.
She also expertly pairs the predominate warm peachy tones of these prints with bed linen in the master bedroom. The pattern detail and pops of bright colour in the pieces add just the right amount of depth and interest to the understated interior styling.

Three prints from Karina Jambrak's In the Balmy Jungle collection feature in the kids shared bedroom. We love the ingenuity of this gender-neutral space. Divided down the centre by a window Louise has managed to create a sense of individual space for each of her children. Yet the room remains balanced and tied together as a whole by furniture layout and her styling choices.
Bright, bold colours and layers of pattern in décor and furnishings are evenly distributed throughout the space. Tactile styling accents and a playful shaggy rug adds softness and fun to the kids’ space. In the Balmy Jungle is a bold, fun collection and is well suited for children’s rooms. Inspired by untouched lands. Deep in the jungle where exotic animals play and peacefully roam and at night the richly coloured sky is filled with millions of stars. It is a place where nature's colours are vividly present. Louise has selected three prints, Banana Palm Days and Jungle Blooms for Ivor and Facing the Warm Sun for Voilet. |
“I love that I can bring happiness and warmth into peoples homes through my art” says Karina. |
